Let’s Visit the Farm!

Come to Nuestras Raíces Farm for
your next school trip, and enjoy the unique experience of visiting an urban
community farm! 

A farm can be a truly interdisciplinary, with
projects involving Math, science, Arts, Geography, and More.

We can design activities for All
Ages ranging in All Subject Matters.  I am willing to work
with you to design activities and a farm experience that will fit well with your
curriculum, whatever that may be.

A Tour Package May Include:

Food System Education:We ask, where does your food come from? What are your favorite foods, and how do
they get to your plate? Activities may include the environmental impact of
different foods, farm business and how a farmer does (or doesn’t) make a
profit, and the value of community gardens. How are food and culture related
globally?

Plant Science:We explore the youth garden with our 5 senses and ask, what does a plant need to
grow? Which part of the plant do we eat in different vegetables

Compost Science:We look at the Nuestras Raíces composting system and talk about food energy, and how to capture it. What is decomposition? What helps the vegetables decompose?
What are the stages of decomposition? This can involve lots of fun hands-on
activities

Writing, Vocabulary, and 5 senses
Skills:So mcuch fun vocabulary on a farm! We can fill out vocabulary sheets and explore the farm with our 5 senses. Students can participate in lead writing and/or
poetry activities based upon what they notice.

Basic Tour Package: $4 per child,
$100 minimum. Upgrades available depending on the
season. If you cannot come to us, we will
come to you! Ask about our farm to
school program
