Educational Tours

Come to Nuestras Raíces Farm for your next school trip, and enjoy the unique experience of visiting a local community farm!

Tour Package Includes:

What is a Community Garden?

  • What is a community garden?
  • We ask the students why gardens are important, and what they do for a community.
  • What can you get from a garden? Where does our food come from?
  • Activities include looking at the seasonal produce grown by our farmers and youth. What kinds of vegetables do we grow? How are they grown? What does a plant need to be happy?

Petting Zoo and Animal Farms
We look at the different kinds of animals that are part of a farm.

  •  What does each animal need to be happy?
  •  What does each animal contribute to our farm?
  •  Students have the opportunity to visit with chickens, goats, pigs, and a pony in our petting zoo.

Puerto Rican History and Culture

  •   Our organization grows from the local Puerto Rican culture and heritage. Using our youth-created mural (pictured below) we discuss various aspects of Puerto Rican culture, and the importance of its preservation.
